Restorative Practices & Restorative Justice: Day Conference

This conference will bring together key stakeholders from policy, practice and research to explore the role and implementation of restorative practices across a diverse range of policy domains and areas of service delivery. It will draw lessons from national and international research and established practices in restorative justice and restorative practices. In so doing, it will complement Leeds’ ambition to become a ‘Restorative City’ and inform the steps to deliver such a vision. The conference is co-sponsored by Leeds City Council and the University of Leeds – School of Law and the Leeds Social Sciences Institute.

This day conference will explore this work and debate the links and unique differences between restorative justice and restorative practice. The conference will draw particular lessons and experiences from the fields of:

• Schooling and education
• Families, children and safeguarding
• Policing and criminal justice

The conference is aimed at local, regional and national delegates from public, voluntary and private sector organisations and academics interested in:

• Building local restorative practices in different areas of service delivery;
• Understanding and developing models of conflict resolution and dispute management;
• Investigating the links and unique differences between restorative justice and restorative practices;
• Exploring the ways in which research can inform the development of restorative practices;
• Planning future collaborations and research informed networks.

It will provide opportunities to hear from cutting-edge research and innovations in practice in the field.
